Parents - Become a Volunteer Coach!

Why? Because your kiddos need you to make their season as positive as possible!

Our Academy program (U7-U8 Girls & Boys) is looking for enthusiastic parent coaches to guide our young players!
The success of the program heavily rely on our parents to take on leadership roles.

Please note parent coaches are ONLY NEEDED ON GAME DAYS! And don’t worry - you don't need to have played soccer or know much about it in order to coach. Particularly at this age group, many coaches learn the game along with their kids while having a blast! Coach Gil will be be conducting a 1 hour meeting right before the season starts just to make sure everyone is on the same page.

For more info please email Coach Gil at  [email protected].

Recreation

NSC's Recreation program provides an opportunity to play with a set team, practice during the week and have a game on the weekend.

Younger teams compete in league play in town, against other NSC teams, and occasionally with teams from neighboring towns.

Older teams may compete in the CJSA South West District's Rec-Plus league and some games are played out of town.

Teams are formed by Grade Level.

Parent Coaches are needed to guide teams. Trainers assist with the practices and can help guide Parent Coaches if requested.

Travel

The Newtown Soccer Club sponsors Travel (Classic) team play for players eligible to play in the U-9 to U-19 age brackets as defined by the CJSA and USYSA (age brackets follow).  Age groups are determined by birth year, and teams are created through a competitive try out in June for the following year. Try out evaluations look at a player’s soccer skills, speed, agility, understanding of the game, coachability, and a desire to better his or herself. Each team is provided a professional coach who attends both practices and games. To support our high school age players, we will attempt to sponsor teams for boys and girls that could be eligible for play in a U-16 to U-19 league for the spring season. Playing on a travel team is a commitment that includes traveling for games, one to two games a weekend and two practices a week. Teams generally attend a tournament each season (usually local to Connecticut). We welcome multi-sport athletes and will understand if children need to miss part of a practice for a game. However during soccer season, we encourage you to prioritize soccer, especially games and Cup games. The focus of the Club at the Travel level is both development and competitiveness.

NSC Competes in the SouthWest District of CJSA. For the 2022-2023 season, the birth years are as follows:

 u10 2013
 u11 2012
 u12 2011
